Cellulose aerogels with low density, high specific surface area and high porosity, have great potential in enhanced mechanical performance, improved hydrophobicity and oil-absorption, promoted thermal insulation, biological antisepticity and other domains. This paper briefly introduces the preparation steps of cellulose aerogel and focuses on the latest development of cellulose aerogel and cellulose-derivated functional aerogel. Consequently, the prospective development of cellulose-based aerogel material is presented. |
